 Welcome to JSR!

Congratulations on your inclusion in the Spring 2016 Semester of J Student Reporters (JSR). Established in 2009, JSR is a prestigious program that allows high school students to be published in the Korea Daily!

You are linguistic pioneers! The JSR section, which runs four times a week in the Korea Daily, is the only part of the paper that is in English. In addition, the program boasts an expanding website that includes even more articles

Inclusion in this program does not mean, however, that your work will be automatically published. JSR is a meritocracy, and editorial selections also take timeliness, context, and topic significance into account. While we will strive to publish everyone over the semester, you must produce JSR-caliber work to be included in the print edition of the paper. If it takes you a while to be published, do not give up. If you get discouraged, contact your editor or the program coordinator to get more help.

This website includes the Program Manual for JSR, which can be accessed by clicking the "Program Manual and Group Portal: Sping 2016 Session" link at the top of any page on the site. The main page will link you to sections on our Skill Emphasis, Writing Style, Deadline Schedule, and more.

This site also includes a portal to your Editorial Group website, which can be accessed by clicking your editor's name.

In addition to this site and Jstudentboard.com, you may connect with JSR online on Tumblr, Facebook, and Twitter

 Your Coordinator

Kay Hwangbo was a newspaper reporter for nine years. For two years, she was a reporter for the Los Angeles Times, where she helped cover the 1994 Northridge earthquake. She was also a reporter for the Korea Times English Edition, for whom she covered the 1992 Los Angeles riots.

When she's not covering disasters and riots, Kay likes to go swing dancing, watch movies and take photographs.
